Photography is an art that can be learned and practiced by everyone. You are not born with it.

I – Basic Photography workshop

This one-day workshop is tailored to those who have purchased a digital camera and want to start making full use of it.

The topics covered are:

  • Understanding the different settings on your camera
  • Understanding the “Exposure Triangle” (Shutter speed, aperture, ISO)
  • Using different modes on your camera, other than Auto mode
  • Learning about metering, white balance and reading a histogram
  • The different lens types
  • How to use the different settings to manipulate depth of field and movement in your photos
  • Understanding the Rule of Thirds

 

Requirements: Having a digital camera with full manual control (preferably a DSLR) is required. No prior knowledge in photography required. Bring your patience, it might feel overwhelming.

Duration: 6 hours

II – Intermediate Photography Workshop

This one-day workshop is tailored to those who have basic knowledge in photography, understand the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO and would like to improve their skills. The topics covered are:

  • Understanding Composition
  • More in-depth study of the Rule of Thirds and various composition tips to pull in the viewer in your shots
  • Understanding how lighting affects your shots
  • The Golden Hour and how to make the best use of available light
  • Being creative with composition tips and tricks
  • Basic tips to produce sharper and better photos

The course will be followed by 2 hours of shooting outdoors to practice what is studied.

Requirements: Having a digital camera with full manual control (preferably a DSLR) is required. Basic knowledge of photography is essential. You need to know how to use your camera and understand how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work.

Duration: 6 hours

III- Advanced Photography Workshop

This one-day workshop is tailored to intermediate photographers who fully understand the basic rules of photography, know how to manipulate their camera but want to start producing photos with more impact. The topics covered are:

  • Developing the Creative Eye
  • Basic post-processing techniques to make your photos pop
  • Producing better black and white photos
  • Using artificial light to enhance your photos
  • Approaching subjects for portraits
  • Breaking the rules when required
  • How to effectively share your photos online through social media

The course will also be followed by 3 hours of outdoor shooting in various areas of Granada to practice what has been learned.

IV- 3-day Complete Photography workshop

This 3-day long intensive workshop covers all the three topics above, from basic photography rules to more advanced techniques.

The workshop can also be tailored to your liking to focus on specific subjects. Each day will end with a field trip to practice what is learned.

Requirements: Having a digital camera with full manual control (preferably a DSLR) is required. No prior knowledge in photography required.

Duration6 hours x 3 days

V – Adobe Lightroom Workshop

Adobe Lightroom is an incredible tool, built for photographers, that helps you manage your growing collection of photos, process your RAW files quickly and effectively, create slideshows and photo books, edit videos and even set up your own online portfolio. This workshop covers the following:

  • Understanding the interface
  • Importing, keywording, filtering and organizing your photos.
  • Understanding the Develop Module
  • Effectively editing your RAW files for better photos
  • Tips, tricks and how to be creative in the Develop Module
  • Exporting and sharing your photos
  • Creating slideshows with your photos

Requirements: No specific requirements but it would help if you bring your own digital photos, as well as a laptop with at least Lightroom 5 installed.

Duration: 5 hours

Cost: 100€.

VI – Photo Tours

For photographers who are at least of intermediate level, the above workshops can also be taught in the form of 1-day photo tours in various locations. This is a great opportunity to visit the area, learn about its history and practice your photography. You will be able to go back home with great travel shots and better photography knowledge.

I will be assuming that you have some basic understanding of how the camera works and how to correctly expose your photos. There will be no classes and we will mainly be outdoors, walking around the city and getting to the most photogenic parts. I will help you with composition and give you some interesting information about the places we visit.

The current photo tours will take place in the city of Granada in Andalucía, Spain.

Requirements: Basic knowledge in photography. Being fit enough to walk around Granada, which is built on a hill. Having a tripod is useful.

Duration: 6 hours. Could be split in two 3-hour periods to benefit from the best light and stay away from the midday heat.
