Overlooking the Alhambra ~ Granada, Spain

Overlooking the Alhambra in Granada, Spain

In 2 weeks, we’ll be celebrating our 6 months in our new home after leaving Thailand: Granada, Spain.

I have to admit I didn’t spend much time exploring different neighborhoods of the city or even the surrounding areas, but so far, I absolutely love it here and I can see ourselves spending our life in this relaxed and gorgeous city.

There are many reasons I enjoy Granada. In a few ways, it reminds me of Chiang Mai in Thailand, with its laid back feel and not-too-big-not-too-small size. The people don’t smile as much as in Thailand, but they’re kind and helpful, even if you don’t speak the language very well.
Of course, let’s not forget the free tapas with every drink in every bar, the beautiful architecture, the mix of Arab and Spanish cultures, the weather, and so on.

Another thing I discovered last weekend, is that you can start hiking from the city center and find yourself in the foothills, away from the noise and the crowd, in less than an hour walk. That, for me, is a big plus! No need to take a car and drive for an hour to find yourself in the wild.

Of course, 6 months is not a long time but, so far, it’s been very pleasant and I’m looking forward to spending winter and discovering other areas.

As much as I love Chiang Mai and will always consider it a “second home”, I’m happy being back in Europe.

I love how you managed to capture the rays of sunlight in the first shot. It gives a feeling to the photo. It was great to meet you this weekend. Thanks for the tips and advice.

Granada is a beautiful city and the Alhambra palace is probably one of the most beautiful out there. Great photo.
