The Happy Meditating Monk ~ Thailand

a happy stting meditating monk statue in a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I wish I could be in this state more often but lately, since I came back from holiday, I’m more in a stressed-busy mode. Catching up with work, writing, editing, catching up with photos, friends, and waiting for good news.. I just can’t sit still!

So instead of a photo of me jumping around, here’s a photo of a nice little monk, enjoying the garden, listening to birds sing and meditating with a big smile. I saw this little buddy in a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

In a few weeks, it will be my website’s first year anniversary. The version 2.0 of my website that is (Canvas of Light used to exist for 2 years on Blogger before becoming a self-hosted website).

Now I am starting to work on version 3.0 of my website. It will be different, more professional looking and leaning more towards the photography part. I will be changing the design (theme) of the site, with a different portfolio section, where you can purchase prints, and a completely separate blog section where I’ll be posting new random photos that don’t fit in my portfolio and random entries as well as reviews, tutorials, tips, interviews, and whatever I feel like posting.

I’m a bit worried about the theme change, which will probably ruin all my links (as my blog section will have a different url like canvas-of-light/blog/xyz). Any tips/advice would be helpful.

I already chose the theme and I’m excited to reveal it in a few weeks. There will be a huge slideshow with high quality photos.

I’d like your opinion about all this. What would you like to see more on Canvas of Light? Would you be interested in all the changes or do you prefer the simple “1 photo+ short text” set up? Would you continue following the website even if it’s a little more about photography than travel?

Please don’t hesitate to share your opinion in the comments section below and help me make Canvas of Light a better website!

Lovely monk. If i ever settle somewhere else than inside my backpack, i’d love to have a garden with a little monk like this :)
As you’re using WordPress, normally changing your theme shouldn’t change the URL … but just in case, then you can probably find a plugin which does automatic URL redirect using variables (the % thingy).
    Good luck.

First off I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Many thanks!
