Guthrie Train ~ U.S.

A train taken at sunrise in Guthrie, Kentucky.

I know I haven’t been posting much.

Jet-lag, holidays and helping for a wedding (no, not my wedding) took most of my free time so I haven’t been able to work on photos and post anything interesting. I also had a lot of other work to catch up with.

I am enjoying my time in Guthrie right now, a small town in Kentucky on the Tennessee border. I’ll post more about it in a future update.

This was a shot I took this morning while wandering around town before sunrise to take advantage of the beautiful light. There are many trains around the area and I was really glad to have found this one standing still for a portrait shot.

Quick Tips:

One of the most important lessons in Photography is to have the will to wake up very early and take advantage of the beautiful soft light right before sunrise. It can really make a big difference in your shots and you won’t be bothered by people walking around as it’s too early for everyone else.

  • Nice shot! I like your tips at the bottom. I remember once hearing that a dedicated photographer wakes up when others are sleeping and is out shooting again when most are having dinner.

Damn i just love trains! That power ! Any chance to see a photo of those old steam locomotives ?

    • Thanks! Sorry no old steam locomotives around. Wish I’d seen one.

  • That is really great photo tip! It works perfectly every time and once on the road you get the real feeling about the place.
