A monk chatting with a tourist by the Mekong river in Vientiane, Laos.

I really don’t enjoy Vientiane in Laos but I have to admit there are sometimes some good photo opportunities.

I caught this photo by the Mekong river, on the new waterfront promenade. A monk was chatting with a tourist who seemed to be very interested in whatever he was saying. I imagined the wisdom-thirsty foreigner drinking the words of the enlightened young monk.

Yes, this is how much I get bored in Laos‘ dusty capital.

Quick Tips:

Don’t be afraid to use negative space in your photos. It helps define a subject and draws the viewer’s eye into the subject at hand.

    Too bad you didn’t enjoy your stay in Laos I have read many exciting place in there..A peaceful scene nevertheless..Too bad it is a contrast of what it used to be..

    I was in Laos last month, visited Pakse, Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang. I stayed two days in Vientiane and I didn’t really like to place (especially the Tuk Tuk drivers). The only thing I like about Vientiane is the yummy local street food and the traditional Lao herbal steam bath & massage.
