O Cebreiro ~ Spain

A sea of morning fog stretching in the valley near O Cebreiro in Spain

Although the whole Camino de Santiago was fantastic, one of my secretly favorite places was: O Cebreiro… The second highest peak after the Pyrenees, in Galicia.

The long walk up the mountain was peaceful and relaxing. It was a steep climb but nobody was in a rush, stopping frequently and enjoying the calm of the forest.
Once I reached the top, magnificent landscapes appeared before me. Looking back, I could trace the whole path I walked all the way from France.. about 700km (430+ miles) and a month of bliss.

I loved the village so much that I decided to stay until the next morning. All I did was walk around, take photos, write in my journal, sit in peace watching the landscape and of course.. stuff my face with queixo do cebreiro (cebreiro cheese) served with local honey, pulpo (boiled octopus) and flowing alcohol.

After a fun but freezing night, the Camino offered me this fantastic present: an ocean of clouds stretching at my feet across the valley.

This is beautiful. I’ve always wanted to do the Camino de Santiago. My in-laws are from Leon, Spain, right on the path, so when we are there, we always come across plenty of travelers. Seems like a fantastic experience.

    • Thanks a lot Jenn! Yes the Camino is a wonderful experience I highly recommend!
Leon is also a beautiful city, I was there during the Medieval Festival and it was really awesome.
Hope you can make it someday!

Beautiful! I’m wondering approximately what shutter speed did you use for this and did you use a tripod?

    • Hi Kristel!
The technical information can be found (sometimes I’m lazy, I admit) on the photo, just hover your mouse on it.
This was shot at 1/250s, with ISO100 and f/5.6. I did not use a tripod, it’s handheld.
      Cheers!
